HYDERABAD NAWABS

NAWABS OF HYDERABAD

If you are looking a perfect flavor of Hyderabad’s old city then there is something that is readymade and gives you a sense of people and their behavior. A well crafted one with local lingo and very funny to watch. The movie is Hydeabad nawabs and here is the story line. Hope when you visit Hyderabad make sure you see this movie.
What’s it about!
Munna and Pappu (played by Azid and Mastali) are fit for nothing guys. Their motto is to enjoy the life. They romance with Reshma (Vandana) and Nazma (Stuti), the daughters of a butcher Hanif (Rajesh Srivastava). Hanif dreams of marrying off his daughters to rich NRIs. Enter two rowdies fresh out of prison. They dupe as NRIs and try to get married to Hanif’s daughters. How our heroes Munna and Pappu get their lovers with the help of a good-hearted dada (RK) forms the rest of the story.
Analysis!
Hyderabad today has changed drastically and became a mega city with Hitech roads and culture. Despite this Hyderabad has still distinct culture of its own and the old city of Hyderabad resonates with colourful cultural life. Based on life of this part of this city (old city of Hyderabad), Hyderabad Nawabs is made. In a true Hyderabad style, the film is funny and hilarious. Through out the film, one can’t stop laughing for its witty dialogues. The story itself is very funny and the execution by the new director Laskhmikanth Chenna is neat. Hyderabad Nawabs is youthful and complete laugh riot.
The best part is that the director has captured the lifestyle of old city very authentically. The Muslim’s culture is portrayed realistically. He has not used ‘cinematic’ gloss. He has used ‘street language’ and ‘expletives’ in liberal dose. It is a very niche film- only people who know and understand Hyderabad’s distinct Hindi-Urdu language enjoy it to the most. Though some
actors have spoken Telugu language (Nizam accent).
Performances
The most of the cast have done another similar Hyderabad based film, The Angrez, which went on to become big hit in Hyderabad city. All the actors have done fantastic job. The lead pair Azid and Mastali are treat to watch. Vandana and Stuti are cute and they look glamorous. RK (who is also producer of the film) as Dada has given a very fine performance. He can be a good villain in mainstream films.
Rajesh Srivastava as butcher has done a good job. Kota’s guest role and Anupama Varma’s are add attractions. Music and Cinematography are first class. The production values are rich despite the fact the film is made in a very compact budget.
Bottom-line
It’s a youthful film and meant for comedy. Hyderabad Nawabs is a laugh riot. It is more of a dialogue oriented comic film. It can be enjoyed the best if one knows the language very well. But it also has too many ‘ugly’ dialogues. That is negative aspect of the film. Tradewise, it will hit with the target audiences -the Hyderabad youth and old city folks. Funny and watchable film.
